
Rose water is fragrant water which can be used in the same manner as a perfume. In addition it was also used in deserts candies and cakes much the same as vanilla. It has its origins in the middle east and has been used for flavoring in desserts such as baklava and Turkish delights. A rose water ointment is occasionally used as an emollient, and rose water is sometimes used in cosmetics such as cold creams.
All of the products produced for resale are reproduced using recipes found in an 1845 encyclopedia and used by a doctor from the 1840’s The products are typical of the sort of non medicinal items sold by pharmacies during the 1840’s.
